We are Growing!... Through the recent revision process, it became clear that our congregation was ripe for change. Late in 2002, a second service was added with a different format. Service attendance has grown from an average of 139 in 2001 to the 180's in early 2003. This only supports the need for a new fellowship hall. Since late last year, a committee has investigate the possibility of adding to our building in a tasteful way that will not hurt the historical impact and significance of our original sanctuary. The proposed addition is on the back side of the church, actually invisible from the main entrance. The original structure (far left) and the 1951 addition mirroring the original are in white. The addition, shown in off-white, includes a quarter-circle fellowship hall overlooking the spring, a new entrance with attached library and an up-stairs dormer to facilitate increased classroom size for our existing third floor. In our current fellowship hall, currently in the 1951-addition basement, will be improved restroom and kitchen facilities. The floor plans shown above show the current layout (blue) next to the proposed addition's outline (white) and the revised downstairs ( pink) next to the addition's floor plan (yellow). Larger file size photos can be downloaded by clicking on the pictures. (They are very large!) There will be a special meeting of the congregation on Sunday March 30th. There will be a time to ask questions of the architects and the committee. All are welcome. |
