DONEGAL FISH & CONSERVATION ASSOCIATION
“Caretakers
of the Donegal Creek Watershed”
Mission Statement: “The Donegal Fish & Conservation Association is dedicated
exclusively to the restoration, conservation and protection of the Donegal
Creek Watershed and it’s wild trout population.”
Dear
Friends of DFCA,
As
most of you are probably aware, we are a nonprofit organization which is
supported financially by membership sales and our fundraising events along with
contributions and grants from several different conservation groups, government
agencies, and civic organizations.
Through these sources we are able to raise the funds to complete stream
projects, meet our everyday expenses, perform maintenance, feed the hatchery
fish, and organize special events like our annual kid’s fishing derby. What you may not know is that, in addition
to substantial cooperation from the Donegal Creek landowners, the Lancaster
Conservation District, the PA Fish and Boat Commission, and the Donegal School
District, the backbone of the DFCA is represented entirely by volunteers. We are very proud of the vision, hard work,
and achievements of the past 30+ years and want to thank all of you for your
support and dedication. As we look
toward the future we are actively seeking to further develop our pool of
volunteers so that we can meet our anticipated goals. We invite each of you to attend our monthly meetings which are
held at 7pm on the third Monday of every month at the Donegal High School
faculty lounge. Please drop in and see
what we do! Also, we are creating a
“phone tree” in order to keep everyone informed of upcoming work plans, stream
enhancement projects, and regular maintenance needs. If you wish to add yourself to the volunteer list please contact
one of the officers below (this is also a great opportunity for scout, school,
and other civic projects). We look
forward to another successful year and we thank you again for your continued
support.
